Borghi

Born in Campegine (Reggio Emilia), In 1944. Studies Marketing, working for a company as an employee, still very young, without giving up his passion for painting. 'When I was young, I painted landscapes and figures, attracted by the great artists of the 14th century.' He exhibits for the first time at the age of 18, thanks to the help of a collector, with whom he goes to Paris later on, where he stays for a short time, studying in particular Picasso and Cubism. 'The decomposition of forms and the projection of the lines of power have become the primary elements of my paintings.' He meets the German painter George Pielmann, student of Kokoschka, and discovers through expressionism the possibilities of the material and the gestures. He shows in some of the most important galleries in Italy and abroad (from Paris to New York, Philadelphia, Marseilles, Berlin, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Lugano, Milano, Washington), revealing in his last works a particular attention to the suggestions of poetry, especially poets who – each of them within their time and environment, knew how to revolutionize deeply the language: Francois Villon, William Blake, Federico Garcia Lorca, Dylan Thomas, Jacques Prevert, Salvatore Quasimodo. 'I read poets, listen to music in order not to search in emptiness, to follow a theme: And soon all I have inside me and all I am, takes form and becomes color and material on canvas.'
